Arson Blaze Hits Paddington Sports Park Toilets
Emergency crews raced to Paddington Sports Park in Peacehaven on Monday night after a fire broke out in the public toilets near the park café.
Firefighters Tackle Vandalism Inferno at The Big Park
East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service responded fast to reports of a blaze at The Big Park toilets. Peacehaven Town Council confirmed the fire was deliberate, branding it “yet another” shocking act of vandalism.
“We are saddened to find out that this evening the toilets at The Big Park have, yet again, been subjected to vandalism, this time arson. The Fire Service is currently on site,” the council said.
“We regret to announce the toilets will be closed for the foreseeable future. Thanks to the quick actions of a local resident who promptly called the Fire Service.”
Quick-Thinking Dog Walker Sounded the Alarm
Local dog walker Russell Kjelgaard Sarrou spotted flames near the toilets and alerted emergency services immediately. Thanks to his vigilance, firefighters arrived in time to prevent the fire from spreading.
The full extent of the damage is still being assessed. Authorities urge anyone with information about the arson attack to come forward.
