Firefighters from Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) raced to a bin fire on Hillcrest Gardens, Deal, on Sunday evening. The flames, which spread to nearby fence panels, were reported at 6:41 pm and extinguished swiftly — all within just 13 minutes.

KFRS crews tackled the fire using high-pressure hose reel jets and cutting-edge thermal imaging cameras. Firefighters donned breathing apparatus to safely access the blaze’s hottest spots and bring it under control.
No Injuries as Fire Cause Revealed
Thankfully, no one was hurt during the incident. Investigators traced the cause to an accident: hot coals dumped in the bin sparked the flames.
KFRS Issues Urgent Safety Warning
A KFRS spokesperson warned residents about fire risks saying:
“This incident highlights the dangers of disposing of hot coals improperly. Always ensure they are fully cooled before disposal, preferably by placing them in a metal container.”
