Thames Valley Police have confirmed the results of post-mortem examinations on the three victims who died after a devastating fire and structural collapse at Bicester Motion on 15 May 2025.
The deceased have been identified as firefighters Martyn Sadler and Jennie Logan, along with a member of the public, Dave Chester.
Preliminary post-mortem results indicate that the cause of death for all three was multiple traumatic injuries, consistent with injuries sustained from the collapse of the structure during the blaze.
Two other firefighters who were injured in the fire remain hospitalised and are currently in stable condition.
Assistant Chief Constable Dennis Murray provided an update on the ongoing investigation, stating: “Our thoughts remain with the families, friends, and colleagues of Jennie Logan, Martyn Sadler, and Dave Chester, as well as the injured firefighters and their loved ones.”
He added, “Initial findings indicate injuries typical of a structural collapse.”
The investigation is being treated as an unexplained death case. Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit is leading the inquiry in collaboration with fire officials and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
Police have declined to comment further on the post-mortem findings as the probe continues into the cause of the fire and any potential structural failures involved.
Bicester Motion, a well-known motor venue located on Buckingham Road, remains closed to the public while the investigation is ongoing.
A community vigil is expected to be held later this week to honour the victims of this tragic incident.
Police have appealed to the public for witnesses, urging anyone who saw the incident or has relevant information to contact Thames Valley Police or report anonymously through Crimestoppers.
