Detectives in Margate are urgently seeking witnesses following a disturbing alkali attack that occurred in the early hours of Saturday, 9 November 2024. The incident has caused alarm in the local community as four people suffered chemical burns.
The attack took place just before 1:15 a.m. on Mansion Street, which connects Fort Road to The Parade. During a scuffle, a man reportedly sprayed a strong alkali substance at a group of individuals. Four victims experienced significant irritation, including reddening of the skin on their faces and chests.
Police quickly responded to the scene and seized a bottle believed to contain the corrosive liquid used in the assault. Authorities have since released CCTV footage showing a man they wish to identify in connection with the case.
Kent Police have appealed for public assistance, stating, “Anyone recognising this man or with information should contact Kent Police on 01843 222289, quoting reference 46/190172/24.” They also encouraged anonymous tips via Crimestoppers at 0800 555111 or through their online form.
Residents of Margate are advised to remain vigilant and report any relevant information to help bring the alkali attacker to justice.
