The A3(M) in Hampshire is currently closed in both directions between Junction 2 Dell Piece Interchange (Havant, Lovedean B2149) and Junction 3 Waterlooville Interchange (Waterlooville, Havant B2150) following a serious crash.
Hampshire Police are leading the emergency response at the scene, supported by South Central Ambulance Service and National Highways Traffic Officers. Due to the severity of the collision, the closure is expected to remain in place throughout the night.
Drivers who are trapped within the closure are urged to remain with their vehicles. Hampshire Police and National Highways are working to fully close the road before beginning to turn vehicles around from the back of the queue. Authorities have thanked all affected drivers for their patience while managing this incident.
Detours have been put in place for both southbound and northbound traffic. Southbound drivers should leave the A3(M) at Junction 2 and follow the B2149 Dell Piece West to the A3 Portsmouth Road junction, then continue to Waterlooville. At the roundabout with B2150 Hulbert Road, take the first exit and follow B2150 to rejoin the A3(M) at Junction 3.
Northbound drivers are advised to leave the A3(M) at Junction 3, take the first exit onto B2150 Hulbert Road, then at the next roundabout with the A3 take the second exit. Follow the A3 to the junction with B2149 Dell Piece West, turn right onto B2149 and continue to A3(M) Junction 2, where the first exit at the roundabout leads back onto the A3(M) northbound.
Motorists are advised to follow all diversion signs carefully and stay tuned for further updates as Hampshire Police continue to manage this major incident.
