The A303 in Somerset is currently closed westbound between the A356 and A358 junctions near Ilminster due to a collision involving a car towing a caravan.
Avon and Somerset Police are managing the scene and prioritising safety while National Highways contractors are on-site to control traffic and implement diversions to reduce congestion.
Motorists are advised to expect significant delays and consider alternative routes. The recommended diversion is to leave the A303 westbound at the A356 junction, head south on A356 Prophet’s Lane to join the A30 at Crewkerne, then take the A30 Chard Road westbound. Continue on the A30 towards Chard until reaching the A358, then switch to the A358 Furnham Road northbound to rejoin the A30 westbound at Horton Cross.
Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time, reconsider journeys, or delay trips if possible while the closure remains in place. For the latest updates, visit the National Highways website at www.trafficengland.com or call 0300 123 5000 for real-time information.
Please drive with caution around the incident area and adhere to all road safety regulations. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
