A serious collision between a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and a car has led to the closure of the A249 northbound carriageway in Kent. The crash occurred between the B2006 junction at Bobbing and the A2 at Key Street, resulting in major delays for commuters in the area.
Kent Police alerted National Highways at around 7:45am, prompting an immediate shutdown of the affected stretch of road. At present, there is no confirmed reopening time as emergency services work to clear the wreckage and investigate the cause of the collision.
Drivers heading northbound on the A249 are advised to follow diversion signs marked with hollow diamonds. The recommended diversion route directs motorists off the A249 at the Key Street roundabout, along Sheppey Way towards Bobbing, and then back onto the A249 via the Bobbing junction.
