Emergency services including Sussex Police and the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance are currently on scene following a serious incident on the A21 in East Sussex. National Highways contractors are also managing traffic to keep vehicles moving as smoothly as possible during the closure.
Londonbound and northbound drivers are advised to follow the official diversion routes marked by hollow circle signs. The recommended route is to exit the A21 at Sedlescombe and take the B2244 north. Continue through to Hawkhurst and reach the A229 junction. Then turn onto the A229 northbound, and shortly after, join the A268 westbound at the junction. Follow the A268 to the Flimwell crossroads to rejoin the A21 northbound.
For southbound and coastbound traffic, the diversion route should be followed in reverse.
