Emergency services rushed to a major collision on the A2 Boughton bypass this evening, bringing traffic to a standstill in both directions. The crash occurred between the M2 and Harbledown junction, causing significant gridlock on this busy route.
An air ambulance was called to the scene, with the helicopter seen circling overhead before landing nearby to assist the emergency response. The presence of the air ambulance highlighted the seriousness of the incident.
At 8:45pm, National Highways confirmed that the road had been cleared and traffic was moving again. Despite the reopening, drivers continued to face significant delays as they dealt with the aftermath of the crash.
A Kent Police spokesperson stated: “Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious collision on the A2 near Dunkirk. The road is closed in both directions between Brenley Corner and the A2050 at Harbledown while we respond.”
The full extent of injuries and the cause of the crash have not yet been confirmed. Police officers remain on site conducting their investigation and expect to provide updates soon.
