The A12 in Essex is currently shut southbound between Junction 19 (Boreham, Chelmsford North) and Junction 18 (Sandon, Great Baddow) due to a motorcycle crash. The collision has resulted in a fuel spill across the road, prompting a significant emergency response.

Essex Police and Ambulance crews are present at the scene managing the incident. Motorists are advised to expect major delays and follow the designated diversion routes.

Drivers are being diverted off the A12 and instructed to follow the hollow triangle symbol for the alternative route. The recommended diversion is to exit at Junction 19 and proceed down the A130 south towards the A1016 near Belstead Hall.

To avoid the congestion, motorists should take the A1016 southwest through Chelmsford and then rejoin the A12 at Junction 15 in Margaretting.

Authorities urge all drivers to plan ahead and expect delays while emergency services work to clear the fuel spillage and make the road safe for travel again. Updates will be provided as the situation develops.
