Seagull Goes on London Train Joyride, Stuns Commuters

A cheeky seagull caused a flap when it boarded a London-bound train at Hastings station this afternoon (Tuesday, September 24). Passengers were left gobsmacked as the daring bird strutted through the carriage like it owned the place.

Bird Caught on Camera Roaming Train Carriage

Paul Bromley, a Community Rail officer at Southeast Communities Rail Partnership, snapped the hilarious moment on video. The seagull calmly wandered under train seats and mingled with baffled passengers. Eventually, Paul gave the feathered traveller some gentle encouragement to hop off.

The bird disembarked at St Leonards Warrior Square station, took a quick stroll along the platform, then soared off into the sky.

‘Fare Dodger’ Seagull Sparks Social Media Buzz

Paul shared the quirky encounter on X (formerly Twitter), tagging Southern Rail and jokingly dubbing the bird a “fare dodger.” He wrote:

“Hi @SouthernRailUK – just to let you know I caught this fare dodger who boarded the 1525 service to London Victoria at Hastings station. With a little encouragement from me, he got off at St Leonard’s Warrior Square. He seemed in a bit of a flap, and passengers gave him the bird.”

The clip quickly went viral, delighting social media users who flocked to share the amusing story. Southern Rail has yet to comment on their unexpected, winged passenger.

Seagull’s London Express Escape Ends Safely

Thankfully, the adventurous seagull’s surprise train trip ended without a fuss. It safely flew home after its unplanned thrill ride, leaving commuters chuckling and bird lovers tweeting.
