Man Banned from Driving After Drink and Drug-Fueled Crash on Uckfield Bypass

A property developer has been disqualified from driving for three years after causing a collision while over the legal limits for alcohol and drugs. The incident, which took place on May 28 between Uckfield and Hailsham, involved reckless driving that ultimately led to a multi-vehicle crash.

Elliott Leonard-Diss, a resident of Street End Lane, Heathfield, was driving a silver Mercedes when he was seen overtaking and undertaking vehicles in a dangerous manner during the early hours of the morning. According to police reports, Leonard-Diss attempted to bypass traffic by using a layby but lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a bush, causing a three-car collision on the A22 Uckfield bypass at around 7:15 a.m.

Emergency services administered a roadside breath test and DrugWipe test at the scene. Leonard-Diss was found to have 81 microgrammes (µg) of alcohol per 100 millilitres (ml) of breath, more than double the legal limit of 35µg. A subsequent blood test also revealed 82µg of benzoylecgonine
