Ex-Teacher Paul Clifton Groomed and Abused Two Schoolgirls

Paul Clifton, 55, a former English teacher from Sidcup, preyed on vulnerable schoolgirls more than a decade apart. He sexually abused a 16-year-old in southeast London in 2006, then tormented a 15-year-old in Surrey in 2017.

The predator groomed his victims with gifts and attention before trapping them in long-term sexual relationships.

“The age I was when this happened is such a pivotal age… The defendant robbed that from me.”

“Paul Clifton made me feel stupid and unworthy… I had a panic attack when he messaged me years later claiming what we had was real.”

Clifton pleaded guilty to nine child sex offences and was sentenced to five years in prison.

Daniel Redpath, 25, raced his vintage Aprilia RX 125 bike at 64mph in a 40mph zone and struck 86-year-old Kunwar Singh on a pedestrian crossing in Keston last April.

Mr Singh died instantly. Redpath, riding without L plates and only holding a provisional licence, was jailed for 21 months and banned from driving for three years.

The judge blasted Redpath’s “clear disregard for the rules of the road” and called the victim impact statements “heart-rending.”

Osama Alkhair, 37, tried to rape a passed-out woman in Croydon last December.

Caught in the act, he was convicted of attempted rape and sentenced to seven years and four months in prison.

Due to his asylum seeker status, Alkhair will serve two-thirds of his sentence before automatic deportation.

Judge: “You took advantage of a woman who was clearly incapable of consenting.”

Mark Weatherley Locked Up for Brutal Attack on Female Police Officers

Sidcup man Mark Weatherley, 43, left two female police officers unconscious with serious facial injuries following a savage, unprovoked assault during his June arrest.

He punched, kicked, and hurled abuse at the officers before being subdued. Unrepentant, Weatherley said the officers “deserved it” and would do it again.

He was sentenced to eight years in prison.
