A 33-year-old woman was attacked while jogging on a busy cycle path in Gosport on Tuesday evening. The victim was found visibly shaken and on the ground by members of the Gosport Road Runners club, who quickly stepped in to help her home.
The frightening incident happened around 7.50pm between Alecto Road and Alver Creek, also known as 1 Field Creek. Police say the attacker grabbed the woman before fleeing the scene. The jogger was left deeply distressed by the ordeal.
“This was a brazen attack that left the woman very upset,” said a Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police spokesman. “She was, understandably, left shaken by this incident and we are determined to trace this man as quickly as possible.
“The cycle path is usually busy with cyclists, dog walkers, and locals. We urge anyone who saw suspicious activity on Tuesday evening to come forward immediately.
“We cannot rule out the possibility of more than one suspect, so we ask everyone who used the cycle path that night to think carefully and report any information.”
