Two women were killed in a horrific crash on the A10 near Ely on the evening of 12 February. At around 6.40pm, a head-on collision occurred on the single carriageway between Littleport and Ely, involving a large HGV fuel tanker and an Audi.

The fuel tanker veered off the road and flipped into a nearby field, while the Audi was thrown almost 100 metres further down the carriageway. Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene near Chettisham to respond to the deadly accident.

The driver of the Audi, a 25-year-old woman from Littleport, and her 71-year-old passenger, also from Littleport, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the fuel tanker, a 40-year-old man from Basildon, was unharmed but has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
