Jason Nyarko, 26, was fatally stabbed during an unlicensed music event on Stockholm Road, SE16, in the early hours of Saturday, 26 June. Police were called at around 11.45pm following reports of the stabbing inside an industrial unit.
Despite emergency services rushing to the scene, Jason was pronounced dead shortly after. The tragic incident has shocked the local community and prompted a police investigation.
Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command is appealing for witnesses to come forward. He stated: “While we have made progress, many who were there have not yet come forward. Some may fear repercussions due to the event being unlicensed during Covid, but I assure you, you will not face any trouble for attending. Even the smallest detail could be vital to solving this case.”
Police officers are especially keen to speak to anyone who saw or recorded any part of an argument, fight, or the stabbing inside the warehouse.
Jason’s family is heartbroken and demanding justice. His sister, Goldie Nyarko, expressed the family’s pain: “Losing Jason has ripped our family apart. He was the glue that held us together — a twin, brother, son, uncle, cousin, and nephew loved by so many. Twenty-six years of happiness snatched away in a horrific instant.
“Jason deserves justice. We believe many people have not yet spoken out and urge them to do the right thing. Jason went out for a night and never came home. Please share any information you have with the police.”
