Three Staffordshire police officers have been forced into self-isolation after coming into contact with a woman currently being tested for coronavirus.

The woman, a non-UK national, was arrested in Burton before being held at Northern Area Custody in Stoke-on-Trent. Reports indicate she fell ill while in custody, raising concerns about a potential Covid-19 infection.

A Staffordshire Police spokesman said: “Three members of Staffordshire Police are staying at home as a precautionary measure after reports that a woman who had been detained in custody was unwell. The force is taking no chances as the investigation and testing continue.”
