Three More Arrests Made Over Blaze at Peacehaven Mosque
Detectives have swooped again, arresting three men suspected of torching Peacehaven Mosque in a chilling arson attack.
Horrific Blaze Set at Mosque Front Door
Emergency crews rushed to the Peacehaven Mosque on Phyllis Avenue just before 10pm on Saturday, 4 October. Witnesses saw two men douse the mosque’s front door with accelerant before setting it on fire. Miraculously, despite people being inside, no one was hurt.
New Suspects Held After Earlier Releases
Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team initially arrested four men but released them all without charge. Now, after fresh enquiries and public tips via Crimestoppers, three new suspects have been detained:
- 34-year-old man from Peacehaven
- 42-year-old man from Peacehaven
- 38-year-old man from Seaford
All remain in custody as the investigation intensifies.
Police Press for Information as Probe Continues
“This has been a rigorous, thorough investigation, recognising the significant distress the incident caused to the victims and wider community,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cullimore of Surrey and Sussex’s Major Crime Team.
