Just before 4 p.m. on Thursday, paramedics were called to a bus stop on Burdett Road, Mile End, opposite the Mile End Leisure Centre, where they found a 13-year-old boy with bite wounds. The boy was quickly transported to hospital for treatment.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed that the injuries sustained by the teenager are not life-threatening.
Paramedics contacted police at 3:55 p.m. after attending to the boy. Officers arrived at the scene and recovered the dog involved in the incident. The search for the dog’s owner is ongoing.
“Officers were present. The 13-year-old boy was taken to hospital for treatment; his injuries are not considered life-threatening. The search for the owner is ongoing. Police have recovered the dog,” said a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police.
This incident comes amid a series of alarming dog attacks in recent weeks. Just two days prior, a four-year-old girl was mauled to death by a dog in her garden in Broadlands, Milton Keynes. Additionally, on January 12, a 28-year-old woman in London was fatally attacked by dogs in Caterham.
These violent attacks have raised significant concerns about dog safety across London and the wider UK.
