Just after 1.20 a.m. today, emergency crews responded to a fatal collision on Hylton Road, Sunderland, involving a car and a cyclist.

The victim, a man in his forties, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect vehicle, described as a blue BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe, fled the scene before police arrival. Officers believe the car had passengers.

Drivers with dashcam footage capturing a blue BMW are especially asked to provide any relevant information.

Police stated, “Your information, no matter how insignificant you believe it is, could be critical in providing the man’s family with the answers they deserve.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Northumbria Police via their ‘Tell Us Something’ page, call 101 quoting log NP-20220731-0108, or email [email protected].
