A busy road in Merseyside has been closed for several hours following a serious collision in the early hours of Wednesday, December 24. A man was struck by a car on Marine Drive near the Hesketh Road junction in Southport at approximately 5:30am.
Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, and the road remains closed as they manage the aftermath of the crash. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while police and paramedics carry out their work.
Merseyside Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses to come forward. A spokesperson said: “We can confirm emergency services are currently in Southport following a serious collision this morning (Wednesday 24 December).”
They added: “If you have any information about what happened, please call 101 or DM @MerpolCC on social media, quoting log number 103 of 24 December.”
