A Royal Mail driver lost his life in a horrific crash on the A2 near Dartford early on Thursday morning, 28 May 2020. The man, who was in his 30s, was on his way to the Dartford mail centre when the tragic incident occurred.
The Royal Mail rigid lorry collided with the back of a larger HGV after the bigger vehicle braked suddenly to avoid a red Citroen car. The force of the impact crushed the driver inside his cab.
Emergency services responded quickly, including the Kent and Sussex air ambulance’s Flying Doctor. Despite their rapid efforts, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The A2 coastbound lane near Darenth has been closed for nearly 10 hours as specialists conduct a full investigation into the crash. Kent Police were alerted to the collision at approximately 4.20am on Thursday 28 May 2020. The crash involved two lorries and a car.
The carriageway remains closed near the Dartford Heath junction while police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and Kent Fire and Rescue Service teams continue to work at the scene.
