A woman was left shaken after a man persistently tried to engage her in unwanted conversation near Bower Terrace, Tonbridge Road.

The man repeatedly asked her where she was going and where she lived. The woman was clearly distressed until a passerby stepped in and safely escorted her away.

The incident happened around 9.15am on 17 October 2022. Police are urging anyone who was nearby and saw or heard anything suspicious to come forward. They are also keen to hear from any other women who may have been approached in a similar way.

The man is described as black, in his 30s, stocky, about 5ft 3ins tall, wearing a black hooded top.

PC Josiah Taylor said: “We have been reviewing CCTV footage and believe other women may have also been subjected to unwanted attention from this man. While no crime may have been committed, his actions caused considerable distress. We need to find and speak to him.”
