A street in Northfleet remains sealed off hours after a brutal assault left a man seriously injured.

Officers have cordoned off Hamerton Road, with police guarding the scene around the clock. The entire area is under lockdown as specialist crime scene investigators in white suits examine number 17 Hamerton Road.

Kent Police search teams, joined by sniffer dogs, are scouring the road and nearby land behind Northfleet Railway Station. More officers have arrived, conducting thorough searches including rifling through rubbish bins in a desperate hunt for the weapon used in the attack.

The South East Coast Ambulance Service alerted police at 2.46am on Tuesday after paramedics treated a seriously injured man at the property. Officers remain on site as the investigation continues.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police were called to an address in Hamerton Road, Northfleet, early Tuesday morning following reports of a man with serious injuries. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
