A fresh Section 60 Stop and Search order has been enforced across the entire Milton Keynes Borough. The order commenced at 7.30pm on June 23 and will remain in effect until at least 7.30pm on June 24.
The move follows a violent disorder that took place at Buckfast Play Park, located on Buckfast Avenue in Bletchley. The incident was reported shortly after 5.20pm on June 23.
During the disturbance, a group of 20 to 30 males engaged in a clash, reportedly armed with bricks and knives. Police responded swiftly to the scene and have arrested six men in connection with the melee. Multiple weapons were seized as part of the investigation. One victim sustained minor injuries.
Inspector Kirsty Bishop from Aylesbury police station commented on the situation: “Unfortunately, once again, we have seen a significant incident of disorder in Milton Keynes this evening, and as a result, we have implemented a further Section 60 order.”
She added, “This order gives our officers extra powers to stop and search anyone within the borough for at least the next 24 hours. It may be extended if necessary.”
Inspector Bishop explained the purpose of the order: “These powers help us investigate crimes and keep the public safe. Officers can stop and search people with or without reasonable grounds while the order is active.”
She also advised the public: “If you’re stopped by police, don’t be alarmed — it doesn’t mean you’re in trouble. Please speak to officers if you have concerns; they’re there to help and reassure.”
