Off-duty police officers have caused shock in Kingston, south-west London, after being implicated in a serious scandal on Sunday. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that two officers have been suspended while police continue to search for a third man, who is not a police officer, arrested on suspicion of kidnap linked to the case.
Details of the investigation remain confidential, but reports indicate that the allegations involve kidnap and rape. The situation has prompted a thorough inquiry into the matter.
The investigation is now being closely examined by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) as well as the Met’s own directorate of professional standards. The IOPC is responsible for handling complaints against police officers, while the Met’s professional standards watchdog ensures that officers adhere to strict ethical guidelines.
