By 10:45 PM, around 60 firefighters from Basildon, Canvey Island, Chelmsford, Corringham, Hawkwell, Leigh, Shoeburyness, Southend, Wickford, and Rayleigh Weir had arrived at the scene. Their primary goal is to prevent the fire from spreading further and to save any remaining vehicles.
The scrap yard, located on Purdeys Way, contains vehicles stacked in three stories. Fire crews have successfully created a fire break to protect the remaining cars, which has helped to halt the fire’s advance and limit further damage.
