Woman Attacked After Stopping Car on Quiet Road
Terrifying assault unfolded around 10pm on Tuesday, 1 June 2021. A woman driving along 1 Road near Hempstead suddenly stopped her car just before Yelsted Lane. She thought she saw something on the road and switched on her hazards before stepping out.
Man Appears From Nowhere and Attacks
Out of nowhere, a man appeared behind her, knocking her to the ground. He launched a second attack while she was down. The brave victim managed to scramble back into her car and drive away. She suffered scratches and bruises in the ordeal.
Suspect Description and Police Appeal
- White male
- Very short, dark hair
- Wearing dark clothing
- Wore a blue face mask
Detective Inspector Darren Reynolds from the Chief Constable’s 1 Squad urged witnesses to come forward. “We want anyone who saw the assault or suspicious activity between 9.30pm and 10.30pm to get in touch,” he said. “Also, anyone who noticed odd behaviour or vehicles in days before the attack.” Motorists with dashcam footage are especially asked to review their videos.
