Man Dead After Horror Crash in Rainham – Police Hunt Witnesses

Fatal Smash Involving Blue Peugeot Rocks Rainham

A tragic crash in Rainham has claimed the life of a man. The smash happened just before 8pm on Thursday, 2 October, at the busy A1306 junction with Launders Lane. The incident involved a lone vehicle – a blue 2008 Peugeot 207.

Police launched an intense search with sniffer dogs and a helicopter but initially came up dry for the driver. The car was recovered and is now at the centre of the investigation.

Man’s Body Found Days After Missing Person Report

Nearly two weeks later, on Saturday 18 October, officers discovered a man’s body on Launders Lane. The victim was identified as 47-year-old Garry Peterson from Canvey Island, linked to a missing person report filed by Essex Police on 16 October.

Police Urge Witnesses and Dashcam Footage to Come Forward

Detective Constable Fayyadh Alwi said: “Officers are supporting Mr Peterson’s family during this difficult time. Our investigation continues and we urge anyone who saw the collision or has dashcam footage to come forward.”
