A lorry driver has been charged after being caught trying to smuggle migrants out of the UK, following a National Crime Agency (NCA) investigation.
Officers from the NCA, supported by police colleagues, stopped a heavy goods vehicle just outside Dover port at around 1.30pm on 1st October.
Inside the trailer, officers discovered four adult men — two Bangladeshis, one Indian, and one Egyptian. All are suspected of being in the UK illegally and were handed over to immigration authorities.
The driver, 35-year-old Marius Halmaghe, has been officially charged with facilitating an attempted breach of immigration law by individuals who are non-EU citizens.
