Detectives in Liverpool are actively searching for a man caught on CCTV who may be crucial to solving a sexual offence investigation. The incident took place in the early hours between 4am and 4.15am on Sunday, July 30.
A woman and her friend were approached by the suspect on Slater Street. The victim was then allegedly taken to a nearby vehicle where the assault occurred. Specialist officers are currently supporting the victim as the investigation continues.
Police have reviewed witness reports and CCTV footage, releasing an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the case. Detective Chief Inspector Paul Parry stated: “Our officers take any report of a sexual offence very seriously, and we are determined to find the person responsible for such an attack.”
He added, “We understand the concern this causes in our city centre, and we are assessing all evidence to get to the truth.” Detectives are urging the man pictured, or anyone who recognises him, to contact them immediately. Witnesses who were on Slater Street after 4am on July 30 are also asked to report any suspicious behaviour.
