Just after 10.20pm, police were called to Manor Close in Horley following a terrifying attack. A man in his twenties was found with a single stab wound in a dark alleyway.
Two men wearing balaclavas reportedly approached the victim from behind, yanked him off his bike, then dragged and stabbed him. The suspects then fled the scene.
Witnesses saw the pair sprinting towards a nearby recreation area by Sangers Walk. Officers launched a manhunt but the culprits remain at large.
The injured man was rushed to hospital. His condition is critical but stable as police continue their inquiries.
Detective Sergeant Lee Marks said, “We are doing everything to track down those responsible and bring them to justice.” Police are urging anyone who saw the attack or has dashcam or doorbell footage to come forward.
