A horse and its rider were hurt in a hit-and-run incident on Wesley Lane, just off Brokerswood Road near Trowbridge, on 27 December.

Wiltshire Police confirmed that a vehicle collided with the horse at around 2.45pm, although some social media reports suggest the collision occurred closer to 1.50pm.

The rider, a woman in her 20s, sustained injuries but is expected to make a full recovery. Her horse suffered minor wounds to its legs.

Police say the driver fled the scene in a black VW Polo without stopping. The car is believed to have damage to its offside and may have a noisy exhaust system following the collision.

“The car will have been damaged due to colliding with the horse,” a Wiltshire Police spokesperson said.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting reference 54250167821. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by calling 0800 555 111.
