Kirklees CID is actively seeking witnesses following a hate crime assault that took place on the Spen Valley Greenway near Kwik Fit and Asda. The incident occurred between 7pm and 8pm on Wednesday, April 6.
According to police reports, two males confronted a lone man walking along the Greenway. The suspects directed verbal abuse at the victim before physically attacking him. The victim sustained minor injuries but was left deeply shaken by the ordeal.
The assault has been officially recorded as a hate crime due to offensive comments made by the suspects during the attack.
Police have released descriptions of the two suspects to aid in their identification:
- Suspect One: Black male, approximately 6ft tall with a slim build, shaved head, and moustache. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie, black joggers, white trainers, and had a stretcher in one ear.
- Suspect Two: Asian male, roughly 6ft tall, slim, with a shaved head and stubble. He wore blue jeans and a dark top.
Witnesses reported that two individuals on push bikes approached the scene, which caused the suspects to flee.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the attack, including the cyclists, or anyone with relevant information to come forward. Those with information are asked to contact Kirklees CID on 101, quoting crime number 13220185349.
