Staffordshire Police are investigating a suspected arson fire that broke out on Eagle Street, Hanley, this morning. The blaze started at around 11:15am, prompting firefighters to respond quickly and rescue a woman trapped inside the property.
The woman was taken to hospital with serious burns following the incident. Authorities are treating the fire as deliberate and have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the blaze.
A 47-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent has been arrested on suspicion of arson and is currently in police custody for questioning.
Emergency services have closed Eagle Street and Uplands New Road to manage the situation and support the ongoing investigation. Officers are advising local residents to avoid the area and cooperate with the emergency response teams during this disruption.
