Tragedy struck after a night out at a Newport club when five friends went missing following their visit to the Muffler nightclub in Newport, Wales, last Friday. The group included Sophie Russon, 20, Eve Smith, 21, Darcy Ross, 21, and two men, Shane Loughlin and Rafel Jeanne-Actie.
After a frantic search, Gwent Police discovered a car early Monday morning. Inside the vehicle, three of the five missing friends were found dead, while the other two were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Gwent Police confirmed, “Three of those reported missing have been found deceased, and two have been taken to hospital with serious injuries.”
The group’s Volkswagen Tiguan was located shortly after midnight on March 6. It is believed to have crashed off the A48. Police have not yet officially confirmed the identities of the deceased.
Specialist officers are supporting the grieving families as inquiries continue. The woman’s car reportedly remains at the nightclub where the friends were last seen.
