Two men were arrested after dawn raids targeting firearms and drugs took place in East London and Essex on 13 October. The early morning operation, which began at 4:40am, resulted in the seizure of four firearms, ammunition, a kilo of cocaine, and £50,000 in cash.
The Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime South unit, supported by the Territorial Support Group (TSG), conducted the intelligence-led raids. Authorities believe the two men were involved in an organised crime group responsible for supplying drugs and firearms.
Additional drugs and weapons were discovered during the operation. A kilo of cannabis was found at a property in Albany Heights, Grays, while officers uncovered approximately 30 cannabis plants hidden in a loft in Dagenham. Equipment used for keyless car thefts, including a scanner and jammer, was also seized. Unusual weapons such as a zombie knife and a sword concealed inside a walking cane were recovered. Furthermore, £10,000 in cash was taken from an address in Newham.
The two suspects, both in their 30s, have been charged with supplying Class A drugs and conspiracy to possess firearms. They remain in custody at a south London police station as investigations continue.
Detective Superintendent Steve Ellen commented: “The warrants this morning further show our commitment to tackling drug supply and the violent crime that is inextricably linked to it.”
