Drivers are facing significant delays on the A31 after a serious crash brought the westbound carriageway to a complete standstill near Picket Post.

The A31 had only recently reopened following an overnight closure when the incident occurred. A collision involving three vehicles – a BMW, a Renault Megane, and a Skoda – has blocked both westbound lanes, causing severe traffic congestion with three lanes of vehicles gridlocked and stationary.

Emergency crews, including paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service, are currently treating those involved in the crash. Hampshire Police have confirmed that there are two reports of minor injuries resulting from the collision.

Highway officials have issued warnings of extensive delays, with traffic backed up all the way to Junction 2 of the M27 motorway.

Highways England has estimated that the wreckage will be cleared and normal traffic flow restored by 2pm. However, drivers are advised to prepare for lengthy delays until the scene is fully cleared.
