Ali Khan, 34, tragically died in a devastating fire that tore through a house on Netley Road, Brentford, just after 4pm on Sunday, November 13. This is the first time a picture of Ali has been released following the fatal blaze.
The two-storey home was completely destroyed by the fire. It also housed 16 cats, all of which are now feared dead after going missing amid the chaos of the incident. Firefighters discovered Ali’s body on the ground floor and, despite their efforts, he was declared dead at the scene.
Two women were rescued from the fire and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews. One woman, aged 70 and homeless, remains in an induced coma. Another woman fled the scene before firefighters arrived but was later hospitalised. Nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution for safety.
Ali’s mother, Bobbie Wason, 65, paid a heartfelt tribute to her son, saying, “I’m staying strong because my son struggled with mental health issues. He was an alcoholic, but I always promised I wouldn’t cry when he died – and I haven’t. I know he’s in a better place now. I just ask people to pray for my son.” Bobbie, who has two daughters and three sons, was also admitted to hospital after the fire.
The London Fire Brigade battled the blaze for over two hours, during which they had to remove gas cylinders from the property to ensure safety. A joint investigation with the Metropolitan Police is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade confirmed, “A man has sadly died following a house fire on Netley Road in Brentford. The fire severely damaged the property. The man was found on the ground floor and declared dead at the scene.”
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson added, “Officers were called at about 4.05pm on Sunday, November 13, to reports of a fire inside a flat on Netley Road. Emergency services remain on scene.”
The Brentford community is reeling from this tragic loss as investigations continue and loved ones mourn the devastating fire.
