Greater Manchester Police (GMP) are seeking witnesses following a night of violent disorder in Bolton. The disturbance began around 1am on Halliwell Road when fireworks were set off, escalating quickly into widespread chaos.

Officers received numerous calls reporting multiple fights in the area. Two individuals sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital. Their current conditions have not been disclosed.

In response, GMP arrested four men aged between 25 and 35. They remain in custody and are being questioned in connection with the violent incidents.

Police have cordoned off four locations for investigation: Maria Street/Gladstone Street, Madeley Gardens, Bride Street, and Weymouth Street. Crime Scene Investigators are examining these areas for vital evidence. The closures are expected to continue throughout the day.

Detective Inspector Stuart Woodhead commented, “What appeared to start as anti-social behaviour with fireworks quickly descended into large-scale violent disorder, which is completely unacceptable on the streets of Bolton.”

He added, “We want anyone who saw what happened to get in touch via 101, the CID office on 0161 85 65757, or our website’s 1 Chat function. Tips can also be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
