A BBC director has been caught in a fiery road rage incident on the M27 near Southampton that left a family shaken and an 11-year-old boy terrified in the back seat.
Road Rage Erupts After Dangerous Driving
The drama kicked off when a couple with their young grandson tried to join the motorway but were blocked by another driver. The wife couldn’t squeeze her car into the gap, sparking fury from the second vehicle’s driver. Tempers flared, and the driver – understood to be BBC Film Director Fergus Beeley, known for working on David Attenborough’s nature programmes – allegedly ranted violent threats, screaming, “I want you dead!” and ordering everyone to “get ready to die.”
Family Filmed Shocking Verbal Attack
The family, Victoria Baumont and her husband Simon Gale, recorded the man’s furious tirade after pulling off the motorway in a nearby Sainsbury’s car park.
“You deserve it, you old s**t,” the man shouted. “You are under a citizen’s arrest,” he added, before unleashing a torrent of obscenities at the family and their grandson.
Victoria said she thought the man might be an undercover cop after he flashed his car lights at her following the collision near Eastleigh Airport. When confronted, he denied being a police officer and insulted the family further.
Police Called But No Charges Made
Hampshire Police confirmed they attended the scene near Hedge End after a non-injury collision involving a Mazda 3, Peugeot 107, and Skoda Octavia at 11:30am on July 22.
Two men, aged 32 and 54 from Southampton and Gloucestershire respectively, each made assault allegations but later declined to press charges. The case remains closed.
