Armed officers from the Metropolitan Police Service’s elite “Trojan” unit rushed to Moorland Road, Lambeth, just after 10:30pm on Friday, December 9, following reports of shots fired in the area.
Response teams quickly joined the armed officers at the scene to secure the location. Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service were also dispatched to assist, although no casualties were reported.
The armed police surrounded a property close to a local primary school, resulting in a lockdown of the housing estate to ensure public safety.
A police search dog and handler conducted a thorough search of the streets while many residents were prevented from returning to their homes during the investigation.
A substantial crime scene remains in place as officers continue to gather evidence and search for those responsible.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers are investigating shots fired in the Moorland Road area of Brixton just after 10pm last night. Nobody was taken to hospital; no arrests have been made.”
