Armed police swarmed Lawrence Street in East London on Saturday night following reports of someone seen with a firearm. The area was swiftly locked down just after 9 p.m. as officers launched a full-scale response to the incident.

Residents were urged to stay indoors while police conducted a thorough search of the property linked to the gun sighting. Despite the heightened tension and extensive search, no weapon was found. The lockdown was lifted later the same evening, easing concerns within the local community.

The Metropolitan Police have not yet released a full statement but confirmed that officers responded to calls regarding a firearm. A spokesperson said, “We understand the significant disruption caused by this response, but public safety is always our top priority. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the report.”

Local residents described the heavy police presence and lockdown as “frightening.” However, many praised the swift action taken by officers to address the potential threat. Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues. More updates are expected soon.
