Armed Police Storm Ventnor Hotel After Firearm Stand-Off

Armed officers swooped on a property in Bellevue Road, Ventnor, tonight following a tense stand-off with a man suspected of firearm offences. The road was sealed off, and residents were ordered to stay indoors as police from two Armed Response Vehicles (ARV) and additional Island Police units flooded the scene.

Bellevue Road Locked Down After Police Siege

The drama unfolded just after 7pm when police cordoned off both ends of Bellevue Road. Officers moved in swiftly, forcing entry with an enforcer to a room at The Burlington Hotel on the third floor at around 8.40pm. One man was arrested and hauled away in a police van.

Staff Raise Alarm After Spotting Weapon

A source close to the investigation revealed hotel staff alerted authorities after spotting a firearm. Armed officers quickly made the weapon safe and launched a fingertip search of the three-star hotel, with scenes of crime officers also deployed to the scene.

Residents Caught Off Guard by Heavy Police Presence

One anonymous local said: “My partner and I had just sat down for dinner when the road suddenly filled with cops. We saw two officers in black helmets and one carrying a shield. It was clear they meant business. Then even more police showed up.”

Police remain at the scene as the investigation continues.
