The A21 near Johns Cross is currently closed in both directions due to a serious collision involving two vehicles.

Three people travelling in one car sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital for treatment.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 16-year-old boy, was arrested at the scene. He faces multiple charges including dangerous driving, failing to stop, and aggravated vehicle taking.

Police confirmed that the teenager’s car had been involved in a high-speed pursuit prior to the crash.

Both sides of the A21 will remain closed for an extended period, causing significant disruption. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.

As part of standard procedure, a formal referral has been made to the Independent Office of Police Conduct (IOPC).

Authorities have thanked the public for their patience and understanding during this time.
