A teenage boy was stabbed and then arrested as chaos erupted in Romford’s South Street last Thursday night.

At around 5:30pm on 19 March 2026, police responded swiftly to reports of a knife fight on South Street. While officers were en route, additional calls confirmed a stabbing incident at Romford Station, leading to the temporary closure of the station during the investigation.

Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service, arrived promptly at the scene. A 16-year-old boy received treatment on site before being taken to hospital. Fortunately, his injuries are not life-threatening or permanent.

In a surprising development, the same teenager was arrested on suspicion of affray and remains under police guard in hospital as detectives continue their inquiries.

Police are actively searching for other individuals involved in the violent disturbance that affected Romford. Authorities urge anyone with information or video footage to come forward.

“If you have any information, please contact police on 101 quoting CAD6005/19MAR,” the police stated.

Residents are advised to remain vigilant as investigations into this concerning increase in street violence continue.
