Police have launched a full murder investigation after a woman was found dead with fatal neck injuries on Brady Street, Sunderland, at 12:30pm last Saturday.
The victim has been identified as Michelle Hanson. Emergency services discovered Michelle Hanson inside the property, where her injuries indicated she was attacked with a bladed weapon.
Northumbria Police said: “We are treating Michelle’s death as murder and a full investigation has been ongoing since her death. This is absolutely devastating for Michelle’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this awful time.”
The police force added they are providing support to Michelle’s family and urged the public to respect their privacy during this difficult period.
Detectives have named 32-year-old Alexander Carr as a key individual they urgently wish to speak to in connection with Michelle’s murder. Extensive searches are ongoing across Tyne & Wear and Northumberland to locate Carr, who is believed to be aware he is wanted and is actively evading arrest.
Crimestoppers have offered a £10,000 reward for information leading to Carr’s capture.
