Julie Morris, 44, a safeguarding lead at St George’s Central C of E Primary School in Wigan, and her partner David Morris, 52, from St Helens, have been jailed for horrific sexual abuse against a girl under 13 years old. The couple recorded themselves abusing the child, leading to one of the most disturbing cases seen by prosecutors in recent years.
At Liverpool Crown Court, Julie Morris was sentenced to 13 years in prison. David Morris, who had previously admitted 34 offences, received a 16-year sentence. Authorities confirmed that the crimes were unrelated to Julie Morris’s role at the school.
The court heard chilling details about the abuse, including video footage showing Julie Morris giggling during the acts. District Crown Prosecutor Damion Lloyd described the case as “one of the most horrific” he has encountered in his 20 years of experience.
Mr Lloyd stated, “It truly appears like both of them were equally involved. They’ve formed this horrendous sexual interest in children and acted out their most unpleasant fantasies on the victim. It feels like their relationship is a self-feeding cycle driving each other to worse acts.”
The charges against Julie Morris include 2 counts of rape, 9 counts of inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, 2 counts of sexual activity in the presence of a child, 3 counts of taking indecent images, 1 count of sexual communication with a child, and 1 count of possessing indecent images of a child.
David Morris faced 7 counts of rape, 13 counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, 2 counts of sexual activity in the presence of a child, multiple counts of taking, possessing, and distributing indecent images (categories A, B, and C), 2 counts of sexual communication with a child, 3 counts of voyeurism, possession of an extreme pornographic image, and possession of a prohibited image of a child.
Justice has been served in this vile case, but the emotional and psychological scars on the victim will last a lifetime.
