Two Liverpool Brothers Jailed for Life Over Daylight Street Shooting
Gun Fired in Broad Daylight Sparks Fear on Walton Street
Two Liverpool men have been handed life sentences after firing a gun in broad daylight on a busy Walton street. The shocking shooting took place at 1.55pm on Tuesday, 21 February 2023, when police were called to reports of a fight on Delamore Street.
During the brawl, a gun was discharged. Miraculously, no one was injured in the chaos that shook the local community.
Gibney Brothers Found Guilty of Attempted Murder
Brothers Jack Gibney, 25, from Lind Street, and Kevin Gibney, 34, of Utting Avenue, were convicted at Liverpool Crown Court of attempted murder and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
On Friday 10 October, both were sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 16 years before parole consideration.
Detective Slams Ludicrous, Reckless Gun Firing
“Sadly we have seen the tragic consequences of a gun being recklessly fired in a public place,” said Detective Inspector Chris Clark from the Firearm Investigation Team.
“Thankfully this time nobody was injured, but this behaviour will not be tolerated.
“The Gibneys showed zero regard for the safety of others and rightly face a substantial prison sentence because of it.
“We continue to fight gun crime daily and urge the public to come forward with any info on weapons or criminal activity in their communities.”
