Chaos struck Canterbury overnight from Friday 7 June to early Saturday 8 June 2024, as vandals cut telegraph wires at nine different locations across the city. The targeted sites included Heaton Road, Bishops Way, Beaconsfield Road, Hardy Road, Forty Acres Road, Westgate Court Avenue, Beverley Road, and New Ruttington Lane.
The damage did not stop there. Between the evening of Tuesday 11 June and the following morning, seven more telegraph poles were found vandalised in Squire Avenue, Shipman Avenue, and Wife of Bath Hill.
Kent Police are urging anyone who was in these areas at the times and noticed anything suspicious to come forward immediately. Witnesses are asked to call 01843 222289 and quote reference 46/96238/24.
Police also request that anyone with private CCTV, doorbell camera, or dashcam footage from these locations that could assist the investigation upload it through the official channels. Information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers by calling 0800 555 111 or via their online form.
